Screencasting Reflections

Reflection Questions (to be answered in your own blog post at the end of the unit):

  • What did you like most about screencasting?
I love to screencast because my audience can stop and replay my instructions whenever they need to know how to do something. This way, I don’t have to be by their side whenever they need help–if it’s at school or in their own homes. They can watch the screencast any time.

I also like the details that remind me again how to do something that might be tricky. Whenever you teach someone how to do something, you learn how to do it even more.

  • What did you find most challenging?
I found that planning was the most challenging because I needed to make sure that I was ready before I started my screencast with all of the instructions as well as the screens and windows that needed to be opened.
  • What advice would you recommend to others starting screencast project?
My advice is to choose a topic that is not too big or too small. Do not choose a topic that many people already know how to do. Be sure your background on your computer is not too personal to share with your audience.
