Criterion A: Augmented Reality

  • What is Augmented Reality?
A way to see the world using technology that creates trigger images from real life to launch video and images that provide more information about what you are seeing
  • How is it being used?
*Words come alive and show videos of what they mean when learning a new language
*The city becomes a map when a device is used to view it that contains information about local businesses or directions to specific locations
*Buildings and art become their own “tour guide” as information pops up to explain the history or meaning of architecture and painting
*2 dimensional pictures become 3D in an IKEA catalogue or on a Lego Box so you can see how the products work
*Broken items like an air conditioner or printer can be fixed when a device is placed over the items which shows you how to repair them in 3D
  • How would you imagine using it?
*You become the main character in a live action version of a story you write
*Show someone how to do a science experiment on a poster at a science fair
*Stop Motion animation triggered by an image
  • What ideas do you have for using augmented reality in school?
*Teach others how to use Augmented Reality
